The Rural Development Administration and the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation (aT) are fostering new varieties of agricultural products in response to climate change. To this end, an opportunity was prepared to introduce new varieties to exporters and producers and explain sustainable export support plans.
At the information session held at the Jeonju Rural Development Administration International Conference Hall on the 25th, 15 production farms and export companies, including pear, grape, and kiwi export integration organizations, participated. Among the various new varieties developed by the Rural Development Administration and being distributed to farms, △pear (Greensis, Shinhwa) △grape (Jelly Pop, Summer Crispy, etc.) △kiwi (sweet gold, persimmon) △garlic (Hongsan) were introduced in detail.
In addition, aT explained support measures for the entire export process, from production support to buyer placement and overseas marketing, so that new varieties can be exported overseas. In particular, fresh produce buyers from Singapore and Vietnam were invited to participate in an online briefing session to provide feedback on samples of new varieties provided in advance and to exchange vivid opinions in real time with producers and exporters who attended the event.
Rural Development Administration and aT plan to provide closer support from production technology support to buyer placement and overseas promotions so that more new varieties can enter overseas markets next year.
Hong Moon-pyo, CEO of aT, said, “The climate change crisis is not something of the future, but a reality facing agriculture and rural areas today, and today’s event will serve as an opportunity for both organizations to cooperate more closely to ensure that excellent new varieties that respond to climate change are widely distributed and exported domestically and overseas. “I will do my best to do my best,” he said.
