Javier Milei cited his own country as an example, facing spectacular inflation of more than 200% in 2023, to which he intends to respond with a series of drastic reforms launched in the wake of his electoral victory last month. “ When we adopted the liberal model in 1860, we became the world’s leading power in just 35 years. And when we shifted to collectivism over the last 100 years, we saw our citizens systematically impoverished and the country fell to 140th in the world », continued the head of state.
In a long speech peppered with references borrowed from the extreme right, Javier Milei presented capitalism, “ attacked by leftist doxa “, as ” the only economic system capable of putting an end to famine and poverty “. The Argentine president, who has been compared to former US President Donald Trump for his positions and his unfiltered style, did not hesitate to denounce the ” radical feminism » or « the bloody abortion agenda “, of the ” harmful ideas that have taken root in our societies ».
His speech was all the more scrutinized as his personality intrigues and his foreign vision questions, between trumpeted “values” and pragmatism. He displayed for Argentina his “ model based on the fundamental principles of libertarianism: the defense of life, liberty and property ».
