Liverpool and Leicester players clash (Reuters)
We got a big drama tonight (Wednesday) in the quarter-finals of the English League Cup. Liverpool were on the safe path to relegation against Leicester, but equalized in extra time and eventually won 3: 4 in a penalty shootout and advanced to the semi-finals. Chelsea and Tottenham also recorded victories and qualified for the last four stages of the factory.
Liverpool – Leicester 4: 5 on penalties (3: 3 in 90 minutes)
What an amazing battle. The Foxes were within touching distance of the next stage in front of Jürgen Klopp’s bunch who came up with a very lacking lineup. Everything was ready for Liverpool’s dismissal, but then came Takumi Minamino who equalized in the 95th minute and sent the game to the penalty spot. There, the Reds scored 3: 4 with only Minamino missing, while Jota scored the decisive penalty.
Brentford – Chelsea 2: 0
Despite the bad period in the league in which they have not won two games already, Thomas Tuchel’s team did the job on the way to the semi-finals. On the other hand, the host who is in 12th place in the Premier League has not managed to surprise the European champion and she will continue to concentrate from now on only on her tasks in the league. Tottenham – West Ham 1: 2
