Despite having made progress in gender diversity compared to the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the administration of Lula (PT) maintains a male predominance not only in the ministerial cabinet, but also in high-level positions in the ministries.

For every woman in one of these positions, there are two men. The discourse on gender diversity in ministries was reinforced this Thursday (11) with the announcement of Ricardo Lewandowski as the future Minister of Justice and Public Security.

Lula said that first lady Rosângela da Silva, Janja, would demand the nomination of women in the ministry. The former minister of the Federal Supreme Court responded that she would do so “with complete certainty.” To get an x-ray of the top echelon of the Federal Government, Sheet analyzed the profile of the 299 names of occupants of hierarchical-level commissioned positions, according to data from the Transparency Portal from December.

The analyzed group is 69% men and 31% women. In total, 57% graduated from educational institutions in the states of Minas Gerais (7%), São Paulo (25%), Rio de Janeiro (13%) or the Federal District (11%).
