With these words Fabrizio Lelli (Professor of Hebrew language and literature at the University of Salento and Director of the Jewish Museum of Lecce) introduced the presentation press conference, which was attended by Smadar Shapira (Director of the Public Affairs Department, Embassy of Israel in Italy), Michele Emiliano (President of the Puglia Region), Alessandro Delli Noci (Councilor for Economic Development, Puglia Region), Luca Scandale (Director of Strategic Planning for Puglia Promotion), Andrea Romano (Head of Cabinet, Province of Lecce), Fabiana Cicirillo (Councilor alla Cultura, Municipality of Lecce), Micaela Felicioni (Institutional relations, Museum of the Shoah Foundation, Rome) and Fiammetta Martegani (Curator, Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv).

Emiliano’s words

The president of the Puglia Region, Michele Emiliano, said: “I thank all those who have done their utmost for this exhibition which tells beautiful stories, even the photographs alone are photographs of tension, the tension of the journey, the anxiety and all that serves to prepare a return. We are happy that the Salento peninsula has been the springboard for thousands and thousands of our brothers and sisters to rebuild a homeland, a land in which to live “.
