At the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday, July 29, 24 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded – and among the infected there were 3 athletes. This was announced on Thursday by the organizers of the Games. This is the absolute maximum infection during the Games, starting from the first day of measurements – July 1. The total number of infections in the Olympics is approaching 200.

At the same time, the maximum number of infections was noted in Tokyo: 3177 cases per day were recorded there the day before. At the same time, the International Olympic Committee sees no connection between the Olympics and the outbreak in Tokyo. According to representatives of the organization, not a single case of transmission of the virus from an athlete or employee at the Olympics to the Japanese population is known.

Among German athletes, the coronavirus has so far been detected only in cyclist Simon Geschke. At the same time, the names of the Olympians in whom the coronavirus was detected on July 29 are still kept secret.
