The unions have given up on a social movement at Christmas, not on their demands. After a form of winter break, the representative union organizations (CGT Cheminots, Unsa Ferroviaire, SUD Rail, CFDT Cheminots) intend to return to the charge at the start of the school year. Particularly on the subject of salaries, after one of the obligatory annual negotiations (NAO) deemed insufficient despite a general increase of 1.8%, and 4.6% on average overall.

“We thought that a social movement during the end-of-year holidays was a bad idea, but we always said that the page on salaries was not turned,” warns a CGT student. “Inflation continues, and the subject of wages remains a major concern for railway workers. Management must respond,” says Julien Troccaz, SUD Rail federal secretary.
