Three men appeared in the criminal court of Amiens, Monday, June 5, for the attack on Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, the grand-nephew of Brigitte Macron. Adrien F. was released; Yoan L. and Florian C. were sentenced respectively to thirty months in prison, fifteen of which were suspended, and twenty-four months, twelve of which were suspended.
On May 15, as part of an undeclared rally against the pension reform, Jean-Baptiste Trogneux had been attacked by a group of demonstrators which he opposed while they were maneuvering garbage cans in front of his chocolate factory in Amiens. The beatings earned him four days of temporary interruption of work and sparked a wave of indignation. According to the father of the victim, contacted by Agence France-presse, the attackers had insulted “the president, his wife and [sa] family “.
The defendants are unfavorably known to the courts, in particular Yoan L., 35, for invasion of home, violence against a spouse, death threats, and Florian C., 20, for threats as well as for rape and sexual assault on a minor. All of them live on the margins of society. Yoan L., placed under reinforced curatorship due to mental disorders, is deemed to be homeless. Adrien F., holder of a CAP in masonry, lost his CDI as a maintenance worker for lack of attendance; he now receives some income from the videos he broadcasts on TikTok. Florian C., illiterate, kicked out by his parents, went through child welfare because of domestic violence.
“He bumped into me”
The civil parties call a valuable witness: a neighbor of Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, 56, who intervened after his children, looking out the window, alerted him to the attack in progress. “I saw three individuals hitting someone, I said to myself: ‘They are going to massacre him.’ When I arrived they were knocking him down. I made a diversion by asking: “Who wants to come against me?” And the whole group came. »
Yoan L. is the main suspect, described by the file as the most violent and carrying a switchblade knife. “Jean-Baptiste Trogneux jostled me, I fell to the ground, he says. I wanted to retaliate, I missed my shot and someone pushed me away” – otherwise, he told the police, there would have been « you sang ».
