WIEN. Turkey women’s national volleyball team beat China for the first time in their history and won the championship in the FIVB Nations League final.
The FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League is an international volleyball competition played by the senior national teams of the members of the world association FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball).
The game
The game ended in a 3-1 victory for the Sultans of Filenin. The Sultans of Filenin, who reached the final of the US-hosted tournament in Arlington, won the first set 25-22, with the second set going to China by the same score. Turkey won the third set 25-19, making the score between the two teams 2-1. In the last set, which began at 1:30 a.m. Turkish time, the Sultanas of Filenin prevailed 25:15 and secured the Nations League title with a 3-1 set win.
With this result, the Turkish women’s national volleyball team climbed to first place in the world rankings for the first time. The Sultans of Filenin lead the world rankings with 365.64 points.

What is the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League
The FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League is an international volleyball competition played by the senior national teams of the members of the world association FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball). The first tournament took place between May and July 2018 with the final in Nanjing, China. The USA won the first edition and defeated Turkey in the final.
In July 2018, the FIVB announced that China would host the next three editions of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League from 2019 to 2021, but on March 13, 2020, the FIVB decided to postpone the Nations League due to the COVID-19 pandemic postponed to the 2020 Summer Olympics[2] and eventually canceled the 2020 edition and confirmed Italy as the host of the 2021 VNL Finals.
The creation of the tournament was announced in October 2017 (along with the announcement of the Challenger Cup) as a joint project between the FIVB, IMG and 21 National Federations[3] The Nations League replaces the World Grand Prix, a previous annual international women’s tournament held between 1993 and 2017.
