It is the legendary barrier that all sprinters dream of and which Jeff Erius has overcome! At the age of 20, the young Frenchman achieved a fantastic time of 9 “98 over 100 m (+ 1.8 m/s) this Friday in Albi. In a reasonable way to the position of anticipation of France in this event, Erius had the same time that he said better than 10 seconds. At the end of June in Angers, during the French Elite Championships, he finished in second place with a very strong time of 10″ 11 (+ 1.4 m/s).

Now you have entered another dimension. With this performance, Jeff Erius became the fifth French athlete in history to go under ten seconds. He did better than Meba-Mickaël Zeze and Ronald Pognon (9″99 in 2022 and 2005), close to Christophe Lemaitre (9″92 on the same Albi track in 2011) and Jimmy Vicaut, who also holds the record for France with its 9 “86, held twice in 2015 and 2016. This is the third best French performance of all time.

Selected for the 4x100m relay at the Olympics

With this time, Jeff Erius even exceeded the minimum for the Paris Olympics (10″ 00) but too late to expect to be singled out for this event. There was no French athlete even in the 100m on the Stade de France track on the first sporting distance, the first since 1932.

The member of Lille Métropole Athlétisme is, however, part of the French athletics team as a member of the 4x100m relay and will therefore be one to follow with his teammates. The series is scheduled for August 8 at the end of the morning.
