It was only a question of time… Last week, because of too favorable a wind at the meeting in Gainseville (EU), Cyréna Samba-Mayela came within a breath of breaking the French record for the 100m hurdles (12′’56), co-owned for ten years by Monique Éwanjé-Épée and Cindy Billaud.

This time, the hurdler from Lille Métropole Athlétisme did not miss her appointment with French history by taking 3rd place at the meeting in Xiamen (Chn) in 12′’55 (-0.2 m/s), a little hundredth better than his two elders.
Starting in an unusual lane 10, the Habs took 3rd place in the race behind the Puerto Rican Camacho-Quinn (12”45) and the Bahamian Charlton (12”49). In a few days, Samba-Mayela improved her personal best mark by a tenth.
