A suspension that falls badly for Nijel Amos as the Worlds loom at the end of the week. The athlete, a specialist in the 800m, has tested positive for “metabolites of GW1516”, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Wednesday. This substance is a metabolic modulator “not approved for human use and presenting a health risk”, explains the IAU.
The control took place at the beginning of June and earned Nijel Amos a provisional suspension with immediate effect. The athlete has been notified and will not be able to participate in the Worlds which begin on July 15 in Eugene, Oregon.
