Pierre Carraz is no more. Known in the world of athletics for having been the lifelong coach of Christophe Lemaitre, he died on Saturday December 31, shortly after suffering a stroke. He was 82 years old.

Carraz and Lemaitre began their collaboration in 2005 at the Aix-les-Bains athletics club. They have known everything together. The rise, the records, the medals, the European titles and the last more complicated years. For several months, if he still remained in the entourage of Lemaitre, Carraz had put himself a little behind in the daily life of the athlete, giving way to Thierry Tribondeau.

“He is the man who trained me, who best identified my potential and who was able to exploit my strengths to move forward and make the career I have today, reacted Christophe Lemaitre to of the team. He is a coach who has always been on the slopes. He was able to train young people, push them […]. He had told the media that if I had been in anyone’s hands, I would have had the same career. I don’t think so, to be honest I came across the best person to train me. I couldn’t dream of a better coach. »
