Kolkata: Former champions ATK Mohun Bagan have entered the semi-finals of the Indian Super League 2022-23. ATK reached the semi-finals by defeating Odisha FC by two one-sided goals in the playoff battle. Hugo Baumas and Dimitri Petratos netted for ATK.
With this, the semi-final picture of the Indian Super League is clear. Mumbai City FC and Bengaluru FC will meet in the first semi-final. ATK will face Hyderabad FC in the second semi-final. The semi-final matches will be held in two quarters.
ATK saw Mohun Bagan repeat their group stage performance at their home ground, the Salt Lake Stadium. ATK suffered a setback when winger Ashiq Kurunian went out injured early on. Liston Collazo came on instead. Odisha too was making strides to fight back. But ATK took the lead in the 36th minute. Attacking midfielder Hugo Baumas netted for Mohun Bagan. ATK led by one goal in the first half.
In the second half, Odisha attacked for the reply goal. Substitutes were brought into the field. But ATK scored again by defending Odisha. This time striker Dimitri Petratos netted. After that, ATK goalkeeper Vishal Keith fell on the field, which made everyone worried. The players and the referee instructed the medical team to come to the field immediately. Ambulance also reached the field. But after a while Vishal Keith stood up on the field and the worry was put to rest. The player was soon withdrawn from the field.
Both teams played a rough game later on. The handshake of the stars could also be seen on the field. But as Odisha could not fight back, ATK qualified for the semi-finals with a win.
