Atlas VPN: hackers stole 34 TB of personal data in the first half of the year

In the first half of the year, hackers managed to make 320 successful attacks on the servers of commercial organizations, according to the Atlas VPN report. As a result, they managed to steal 34 TB of customer personal data and other confidential information, for the return of which the criminals demanded a ransom.

Almost half of the total amount of stolen data was obtained by criminals in April – 16 TB. This month, 113 successful hacker attacks were recorded. By the summer, the authors of the study note, hackers have significantly reduced their activity. So, in May, companies reported only 32 cases of hacking, and in June only 4 successful hacker attacks were recorded at all.
