Atlético Grau suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Municipal Union Stadium in Tarma this Sunday, thanks to a penalty goal from Patricio Álvarez.
Álvarez put Atlético Grau ahead in the 63rd minute from the penalty spot, and the goalkeeper converted his shot into the top right corner. The penalty was awarded by VAR after a handball by César Inga.
The victory for Horacio Melgarejo’s team also came thanks to a goal from Mauro Da Luz, while Janio Pósito scored for the hosts.
At the end of the second half, Pósito was sent off with a straight red card in stoppage time.
Da Luz gave Atlético Grau the lead 10 minutes before halftime, when he directed the ball into the net with a header that the goalkeeper touched but could not prevent from going in. The midfielder shot high into the left corner after combining with Diego Soto. However, the lead did not last, and the equalizer came in the 51st minute when Pósito converted a penalty to the left corner. It was awarded after a handball. But the visitors reacted well, and Álvarez scored the winning goal in the 63rd minute.
ADT failed to save a point, and players Pósito and Luis Álvarez will regret not taking advantage of the good opportunities that came their way during the match.
With this victory, Grau breaks a streak of four matches without a win (0 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss) against ADT in the tournament that started on September 4, 2022.
