This Sunday (17), the Atlético-MG advanced to the final of Minas Gerais Championship even after the 2-1 defeat to America-MG in a return duel from the semi-final. Matheus Henrique and Vitor Jacaré scored for Coelho, while Paulinho scored for Galo. In the first game, the team led by Felipão won 2-0.

América-MG, who needed to get the result, started the game putting pressure on Atlético-MG and with two minutes on the clock they forced Everson to make a save after Mateus Henrique’s shot. Coelho then opened the scoring five minutes into the first half. Brenner took advantage of Matheus Henrique’s cross and found the net.
Shortly afterwards, after nine minutes, Atlético-MG almost equalized. Scarpa crossed into the area and Dalberson made a partial save. Hulk got the rebound, finished for the goal and saw Éder save on the line. Afterwards, Moisés took a risk from outside the area and forced Galo’s goalkeeper to make another save.

In the end, Martín Benítez and Moisés still ended up being sent off on Coelho’s side, as after the final whistle of the match the home team’s players went to the referee to question it.
