What is it about : More than 300 delegated Mayors and representatives from 54 countries will meet in Cotonou from October 11 to 14, 2023 for the 43rd Annual Congress of the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF). In this context, the Cotonou Town Hall is already working to organize it. This was made known by the second deputy of Cotonou, Gatien Adjagboni during the press conference held on Friday September 29, 2023, in the town hall premises. He did not fail to emphasize that Mayor Luc S. Atrokpo is delighted to host such an event on his territory in the coming days.

What you must remember : Representing Mayor Luc S. Atrokpo on this occasion, Gatien Adjagboni addressed the issue of ongoing preparations in order to meet the challenge of organizing this meeting. According to him, the Municipal Council and the municipal executive mobilized to offer an event worthy of the new governance of Benin to all participants. Through this meeting at the highest level, the Mayors intend to raise their ambition for decentralized cooperation built on new bases, which can fuel the changes in outlook and attitudes that the world needs. They will discuss the themes: “Diplomacy for a changing world”, “Strengthening decentralized cooperation for pragmatic and concrete partnerships” and “urban arts and cultures in the service of territorial development”. In addition to the development cooperation that the AIMF intends to deepen, the participants will take the opportunity to express themselves on sub-regional news characterized by crises in the Sahel.

Moreover : The organization provides essential support to the city of Ouidah, Porto-Novo and Cotonou. Eighteen (18) municipalities in Benin benefited from the organization’s revenue security system (one-stop shop). “We are taking steps so that delegations leave with memorable memories of our country,” reassured Sègla Lihoussou. Let us point out that it was the city of Abidjan which hosted the work of the 42nd congress.
