Attack in the Opera district in Paris: a man accused of having influenced the terrorist returned to the assizes

As is often the case when its principal author was killed, the trial of this attack will undoubtedly not live up to the crime. A specially composed assize court will nevertheless look into the series of knife attacks perpetrated on May 12, 2018 in the early evening by a young Frenchman of Chechen origin in the Opera district (Paris II). A bloody sequence from which Ronan Gosnet, a bookstore employee who was to celebrate his 20th birthday a month later, never recovered. His killer, 19-year-old Khamzat Azimov, was shot dead by security forces after injuring other random passers-by to cries of “Allah Akhbar”.
