Many leading Jewish lawmakers, including Democrats who oppose Trump’s return to the presidency, expressed their condemnation of the attack.

Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic majority leader in the Senate, said on Platform X that he was horrified by what happened at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania and was glad Trump was safe. He said political violence has no place in the United States.

Jewish Senator Bernie Sanders took to social media to stress that political violence is completely unacceptable and wished Trump and all those injured a speedy recovery. Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Florida Democrat, said he was praying for the former president and said differences should not be resolved through violence.

Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Social Equality Minister Mai Golan also expressed support, wishing Trump their blessing.

“God bless Trump,” Ben-Gvir wrote.

The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) was one of the first Jewish groups to respond to the attack, pledging $5 million to help elect Trump. They wished Trump a full recovery and said he would return stronger and more determined.

The Jewish Democratic Council of America expressed alarm at the shooting at Trump’s rally and wished him a speedy recovery. They stressed that political violence has no place in the country. Ted Deutch, CEO of the American Jewish Committee, noted at X that everyone was shocked and traumatized by what happened, calling for unity in condemning political violence.

He was joined by other Jewish organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the Jewish Public Affairs Council, J Street and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, who also condemned the attack and wished Trump a speedy recovery.

Some Republicans said Democrats and President Joe Biden had created the atmosphere for the assassination.
