Attack prepared? Suspected Islamists arrested

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism. They are said to have planned an attack and had weapons.
Two brothers from Mannheim and a man from the Hochtaunus district in Hesse have been arrested because they are suspected of planning an Islamist-motivated attack. This was announced by the Karlsruhe public prosecutor’s office, the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office (LKA BW) and the Hessian State Criminal Police Office (HLKA) in a joint statement.
The two suspects from Mannheim are 15 and 20 years old, the third is a 22-year-old. The brothers are accused of being supporters of the “Islamic State” (IS). They are said to have made concrete preparations for an attack.
The 22-year-old supported the two of them with the planning. Investigators say they found an assault rifle with ammunition in his apartment. During further searches, in addition to the firearm, a balaclava, a tactical vest, several knives and various cell phones and data carriers were found.
On December 9th, the men were brought before a judge in Karlsruhe, who ordered them into custody. According to authorities, there was never any immediate danger to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
