He said Hungary did not get support for its position when it approached the EU last week to find a solution with Ukraine to stop Russian oil supplies. As is known, Kiev has indeed banned the transit of oil from Lukoil, as a result of which Hungary may run out of fuel as early as September.

“They are taking an isolated approach when they ask for European solidarity on the oil supply issue. They don’t get this solidarity, because it’s hard to make friends when someone radiates selfishness,” explained R. Sikorski.

The publication reminded that V. Orban maintains close ties with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and his so-called “peace mission” to Moscow has caused hostile reactions in Ukraine.

In addition, V. Orbán’s diplomatic efforts during Hungary’s six-month presidency of the EU angered other member states, who noted that the Hungarian leader did not have the authority to negotiate on behalf of the European Union.

“I don’t see how this Hungarian balance – the position between Moscow and Brussels – strengthens Hungary’s influence. On the contrary, it annoys everyone else,” commented the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In a speech at the annual meeting in Romania, Orban also offered his vision of a new world order that backs China and a possible return of Donald Trump to the White House. He also accused Poland of doing business with Russia through intermediaries.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s policies are anti-European, anti-Ukrainian and anti-Polish. This is how Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Bartoszewski reacted to the Hungarian Prime Minister’s statement about Poland’s “hypocrisy”, writes PAP.

According to him, the US ambassador in Budapest also reacted very negatively to V. Orban’s words.

“We do not do business with Russia, unlike Prime Minister V. Orban, who is on the margins of international society – both in the European Union and NATO. It was an attack against Poland, as well as against the USA, against the European Union and NATO,” said W. Bartoszewski.

He says he does not understand why Hungary remains a member of organizations it does not like and accuses of misconduct.

“Why shouldn’t V. Orban form an alliance with V. Putin and other authoritarian states of this type?” In principle: if you don’t want to be a member of a club, you can always leave it. This is really an anti-European, anti-Ukrainian, anti-Polish policy at the moment,” he added.

In turn, the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó, reacted to the statement, who believes that this reaction of Poland shows the alleged truth of V. Orban’s words.

“The Polish State Secretary for Foreign Affairs reacted sharply to (ed. V. Orban’s) speech in Romania. The reaction confirms the Hungarian saying: the truth hurts. In order to preserve Polish-Hungarian brotherhood, we have long tolerated the provocations and hypocrisy of the current Polish government, but now the glass is overflowing,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

According to Mr. Szijjártó, Poland also allegedly buys Russian oil.

“Although the current Polish government judges us and accuses us of importing oil from Russia, which is absolutely necessary for the country’s activities, if we take a closer look at the list of buyers of one of the largest Russian oil companies, we will definitely find Poles on it. There would be no problem with that, because the energy supply ultimately has a physical basis, but if this happens, we should not be hypocritical and blame others,” the Hungarian foreign minister emphasized.
