The prefect of Pichincha, Paola Pabón, expressed solidarity this Wednesday with the mayor of Guayaquil, Aquiles Álvarez, whose company was raided by the State Attorney General’s Office as part of a criminal investigation called the Triple A case, which focuses on an alleged crime related to the illegal sale of fuel in Guayaquil and Milagro.

Pabón regrets that justice continues to be used for political persecution and in this sense urged that hatred be put aside, since “arresting mayors is not going to solve the economic recession.” He hopes, in the meantime, that justice acts without political maneuvers, where due process prevails, since, he assured, members of the Citizen Revolution (RC) have been the object of political persecution for seven years.

On the other hand, in the interview for Teleamazonas he spoke about a possible presidential candidacy and indicated that any of the four colleagues pointed out by Correa’s followers to be pre-candidates could do a better job than they did during the last three “disastrous” governments that the country has had.

“If elected, I am convinced that we would create a better government, because we are prepared and committed to this country. But, above all, because we are a team and we already know what improvisation and lack of knowledge of public administration mean,” said Pabón.

The Correa movement is currently seeking alliances. Pabón reported that they have spoken with Leonidas Iza, Centro Democrático and Reto to create a progressive front.

She announced that the presidential candidate of this political movement will be defined in the first week of August of this year and if she is elected, she detailed that her main campaign promise would be the recovery of the State “to guarantee a functioning economic policy and a security plan.”
