by times news cr

At a press conference, the head of the capital’s government, Marti Batres He was questioned about the way Ulises Lara, head of the Office of the Attorney General of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) acted when intervening and avoid arrest of the former governor of Chihuahua, Javier Corral.

Batres said that Ulises Lara informed him directly, on the night of the events and the following morning at the Security Cabinet meeting, that his intervention was due to the fact that the elements of the Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office did not comply with the corresponding procedures to execute the arrest warrant, and therefore were acting outside the law by carrying out an act of force without legitimacy.

Following the above, he assured that, in his interpretation, the attempted capture of Javier Corral responds to an issue of revenge after the former governor of Chihuahua exposed links between the current administration of said entity with César Duarte, also former governor of said state, who is linked to the crimes of embezzlement, serious embezzlement, and electoral crime.

“I believe that he is a person of progressive causes and that the Government of Chihuahua is persecuting him for denouncing the acts of corruption of César Duarte and his possible links with the current Government of Chihuahua,” he said about Corral, noting that they are trying to prevent him from taking office as senator.

In this regard, the capital’s leader added that it seems paradoxical to him that Corral is being persecuted when he denounces “a gigantic corruption operation” with former governor César Duarte and his possible links with the current Government of Chihuahua.

Batres said that Corral is not known for having luxuries or ostentatious possessions, but rather for being a critic of various injustices and for defending good causes.
