Thiruvananthapuram: An attempt was made to attack an employee by entering the shop with a machete. The incident took place on Thursday evening at Anagha Hot Chips owned by Ragesh in Kalliyur Peringammala. The woman ran away.

The attack was carried out by a young man who lived next door to the woman. The young man took out a machete and swung at the woman after first coming to the shop and forbidding her to abuse him. The woman, frightened by the incident, ran down and hid behind the shop. Locals rushed and took the keys of the bike that the young man had come with. A group of three people who came with the youth on another bike were standing aside.

After brandishing a machete, the shopkeeper grabbed the item in his hand and arrested the young man. When the locals arrived, the young man left the bike and escaped on the bike of those who came with him.

The police said that the reason for the attack was a previous rivalry with a youth from Kalliyur Chutukandamvila and the accused was previously involved in a firecracker case. The accused’s bike was also taken into custody by the police. A search has been launched for the accused.
