At the end of the week, the attorney’s office submitted an indictment to the district court in Tel Aviv, against a resident of Bnei Brak, a mentally unstable person, who was arrested last week following an attempt to set fire to a police station in the city. The prosecution asked the court to extend his detention until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
According to the indictment, last Monday, around 18:00 in the evening, the accused arrived at the area of the police station at 12 Abu Hachira St. in Bnei Brak, with the aim of starting a fire in a public place. “The accused set fire to cardboard and placed the burning cardboard on flammable vegetation, near a fence surrounding the police compound. As a result, the fire caught the vegetation and a large fire broke out on the spot,” the indictment reads.
