Hofors, [Insert City] – On Thursday, the trial commences for four young individuals who are suspected of committing a serious assault and attempted murder of a man in his 30s at the Lidl parking lot in Hofors on September 3.

The incident occurred when the victim, a drunken man making his way home, crossed paths with a group of Epa youths at the Lidl car park. According to witnesses, an argument broke out, leading to a violent confrontation.

The victim was brutally attacked, kicked down, and subsequently stabbed while lying on the ground. He sustained a severe stab wound to his shoulder, causing him to bleed profusely.

A number of witnesses have been interviewed, providing consistent accounts of the events. Eyewitnesses report that the victim initially instigated the confrontation by behaving aggressively and threateningly towards the young people, who were casually hanging out at the car park, chatting, and consuming alcohol.

As the victim attempted to leave the scene, several members of the group chased after him. The assault ensued, with the victim being dragged to the ground and subjected to a prolonged attack involving punches and kicks to his head.

The accused individuals facing trial include a 15-year-old, two 16-year-olds, and an 18-year-old. The three younger defendants are charged with serious assault, while the 18-year-old is additionally charged with attempted murder.

Disturbingly, one of the defendants sent a message to a friend after the assault, describing the attack in gruesome detail, stating, “Then we stomp on him as if they were ravens. They sprayed the man with blood.”

According to witness testimonies, as the beating subsided, the disoriented victim attempted to walk away but turned around and threatened the youths, claiming he would shoot them. It was at this point that the 18-year-old suspect, known for carrying a knife and starting fights, emerged and attacked the victim, inflicting multiple stab wounds, mostly in the shoulder area.

The injured man received immediate assistance from two girls at the scene, who attempted to stop the bleeding using a cloth, while others called the police. The police arrived before the ambulance and managed to apply a tourniquet to the victim’s arm, halting the blood flow.

The victim was subsequently transported to Falu hospital, where he underwent surgery and received at least 19 stitches across five different wounds. Due to the severity of his injuries, the man has no recollection of the events, attributing his memory loss to either alcohol consumption or the blows to his head.

Two days after the incident, during interrogation, the victim expressed his disbelief and stated, “I haven’t really felt it. I don’t really know how to feel after something like this.”

Following the attack, several witnesses were able to identify the suspected young individuals, leading to their arrest. When the police arrived at the 18-year-old suspect’s residence, he had already washed himself, as well as his shoes and clothes. He was taken into custody wearing wet shoes.

The trial for the young defendants is expected to span three days. All of them deny involvement in any criminal activity, except for the 18-year-old, who admits to striking the victim with a few punches. However, he vehemently denies having used a knife.

During questioning, one of the 16-year-old female defendants claimed that she kicked the victim in self-defense.

The trial will shed further light on the circumstances surrounding this violent incident at the Lidl car park, providing justice and closure for the victim and their families.
