The presence of officials and employees in Bangladesh Secretariat, the heart of the administration in the students’ all-out non-cooperation movement, is somewhat less. There is no familiar car jam.
Visitor passes are closed. Cars were also seen less than other days. Additional security measures have been taken in the secretariat.
On Sunday (August 4), bus services were almost stopped since dawn due to the students’ agitation. However, Government Employees Welfare Board buses carrying government employees brought the employees in the morning.
The officials of various ministries in the secretariat said that many of those who came to the office under their own management and brought private cars did not come to the office. Some came late to office.
Most of the ministers and state ministers did not come to the secretariat. Their office is also empty.
Additional security has been taken in the secretariat to protect the students’ movement, all gates are closed except gate number one for entering and exiting the secretariat.
Information and Broadcasting Ministry official Rafiqul Islam said, I came to the office with risk. I am tensed about how to go home after office. Had to come to the secretariat today with high rent.
