Next November 10 it will be performed at the TNT Theater, Walkinghand in hand with Laura Garmo / Germen Collective. Work that is within the programming of the 15th edition of the CENIT contest of this Sevillian theater.
For a few months now, the members of Atalaya/Teatro TNT have been doing numerous special functions and activities in different parts of Spain. In such a way that the celebration of the forty years of this company is an unforgettable milestone for the Andalusian and Spanish scene. Well, on October 29 they held a special event in which scenes from emblematic pieces from Atalaya were represented. Ending with the laying of the first stone on a plot of land of 8,000 square meters granted by the Seville City Council for fifty years. Counting on the honorable presence and collaboration of Eugenio Barbawho the next day with Julia Varleywould give the conference The Tradition of the Impossible. The documentary was then screened The Embrace of Timewhere a tour of Atalaya’s career is made through scenes and comments from several of the people who have made it possible for this company to be a benchmark for contemporary research theater.
In relation to the contest CENIT, it should be noted that it is the most wildly experimental that makes up the performing arts cycles/contests that take place at the TNT Center. Where, one usually finds “jewels” that, for one reason or another, are difficult to be programmed on the great stages of the Spanish geography. In this case I have chosen to cover the piece Walking, which I will tell you that, at the end of last month, was premiered within the framework of the Surge Madrid in autumn X Exhibition of Stage Creation. Without further ado, I give you the synopsis:
A cut somewhere else opens up multiple possibilities.
We got off the dotted line.
We left the marked path.
We are leaving…
Caminando is a work of associative theater and contemporary dance that tries to open possibilities of being and relating in the world in a different way.
Unlearn the norm, get rid of the characters that have been imposed on us to rebuild ourselves, respecting our limits, taking care of ourselves, recovering the strength of the group, reappropriating our vital drive and the collective force of creation and cooperation through the generation of a space of game time in which to enjoy instability and playfulness.
Walking is a collective creation that arises from the notes to decolonize the unconscious that the Brazilian philosopher Suely Rolnik gives us in her book Spheres of Insurrection.
