The Attorney General’s Office formally requested several government entities, especially the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, to present detailed reports on the actions implemented and the results obtained in the fight against deforestation in the country.
This request, made through the Delegate for Environmental, Mining, Energy and Agrarian Affairs, seeks to know the progress in the commitments made at the Third National Roundtable on Deforestation, which was held in April 2024. At said meeting, they were addressed the challenges and progress in the management of this phenomenon that threatens Colombian ecosystems.

The Ministry of the Environment must present protocols designed to collectively protect environmental leadersthe financial mechanisms established to control deforestation and the economic instruments promoted to promote a sustainable productive transformation.
Likewise, the Attorney General’s Office required the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism to report on the controls that have been implemented to regulate the marketing channels of products from ecologically important areas. Also, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Amazon Research Institute (SINCHI) must detail the results of their coordinated work on this matter.
Finally, the National Police was called to account for the operational results in the fight against illegal mining and efforts to reduce deforestation, especially in the Amazon region, one of the most affected by this problem.
