‘Attune Truck’, Johnson & Johnson Medical’s tour of orthopedic surgery innovation

Making a contribution to the resumption of medical-surgical activities and supporting healthcare professionals with increasingly innovative technologies. With these goals, DePuy Synthes, the orthopedics division of Johnson & Johnson Medical Spa, has brought to our country theAttune Truck‘, an international initiative that offers an innovative experience on hip and knee prosthetic surgical techniques. A tour that, until 10 September, involved professionals belonging to four Italian excellences: Humanitas University (Milan), Pierangeli Nursing Home (time.news), Policlinico di Bari (Bari) and Pineta Grande Hospital (Castelvolturno) (VIDEO).

The ‘Attune Truck’, a real truck set up with demonstration spaces, offered surgeons, nurses and administrative staff the opportunity not only to know and learn more about the technological solutions proposed by the company, but also to live an immersive experience thanks to virtual reality.

“This tour concretely represents our will and our commitment as a company in wanting to continue to stand by our partners and to create opportunities for contact and enrichment”, he explained Vincenzo Giannattasio dell’Isola, CEO of the DePuy Synthes division for Italy. “We are clear that in this moment it is important to support structures and operators with products and solutions capable of reduce surgical and hospitalization times, so as to be able to treat more patients and in a safer way and we are proud to be able to make available our skills and our products and services “.

In the past 18 months, many hospitals have been called to initially suspend and then postpone elective surgeries to prioritize care for patients with Covid-19. As reported by the Gimbe Foundation, in a report produced as part of the Johnson & Johnson Medical SpA initiative “My Health Can’t Wait“, Only in the orthopedic field in Italy in 2020, a reduction of 130 thousand joint prosthesis interventions has been estimated compared to 2019, with a considerable lengthening of the waiting lists and a clinical and social impact not yet definable but indisputable, for people who are candidates for these types of treatment.

The ‘Attune Truck’ tour follows and supports the launch of the Johnson & Johnson Medical SpA initiative “My Health Cannot Wait”, created thanks to the support of 10 scientific societies, 5 patient associations and two research institutes to provide useful tools to patients in order to put their health back among the priorities.
