Guilherme Mendes, head of development at Ancine, explained the launch of the agency’s largest international co-production announcement. The goal is to improve international cooperation by simplifying agreements and reducing barriers with partner countries. Mendes shows that industrialization promotes the diversification of histories and the combination of specializations between countries, increasing the final product.

Tiago Santos, managing director of Panvision, highlighted the importance of the Mercosur Cinematographic and Audiovisual Cooperation Agreement, signed in July by the member countries (Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay). The agreement, previously discussed at the Special Conference of Mercosul Cinematographic and Audiovisual Authorities (Recam) during FAM 2023, provides national recognition for productions, access to benefits and government support, and regular cooperation. More flexible and modern, the agreement allows for different revenue streams and covers cinema, TV and digital platforms, synchronizing productions with countries such as Paraguay, with which Brazil does not already have bilateral agreements.

Mendes stressed that the agreement strengthens cooperation between Mercosur countries, encouraging cultural sharing and market expansion. He also mentioned that distribution continues to be a challenge for Ibero-America, and that new considerations are being discussed to address this issue.
