Guru Gobind Singh’s two elder sons were killed in the Battle of Samgarh in 1804 under Mughal rule. To commemorate this, Prime Minister Modi announced on January 9, Guru Gobind Singh’s birthday this year (2022), that December 26 will be observed as ‘Veer Pal Diwas’ every year to honor his bravery.

In that way, ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ day was observed at Major Tian Chand National Theater in Delhi yesterday. Prime Minister Modi said, “Aurangzeb and his followers tried to convert the children of Guru Gobind Singh by sword. To refuse them, Aurangzeb’s government decided to kill Guru Gobind Singh’s two children. On the one hand there were peaks of extremism and religious fanaticism. On the other hand there was the spirituality of seeing God in every human being. Guru Gobind Singh stood like a mountain against his plans to transform India. Imagine that era.

Although alone, they did not bow to the Mughals. Due to this, Mughals killed 2 sons of Guru. Their heroic sacrifice has been an inspiration for centuries. Any country with such an illustrious history must be full of self-confidence and self-respect. Yet, fabricated historical myths are propagated to induce inferiority complex. We must break free from the narrow perspective of the past in order to reach new heights of success. The country is committed to eliminating all traces of slavery. Accordingly, the mistakes of the past are being rectified in the new India,” he said.
