Team captain Ausējs will play in Ventspils for the fifth season in a row.
In the previous season, he averaged 14.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 37 games in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (LIBL), while in seven matches in the Latvian Basketball League (LBL) he averaged 20.71 points and accumulated five steals and 3.57 assists.
Ausējs also played in Latvia for “VEF Rīga”, Liepāja, Jūrmala, Jelgava and “Barons” teams, but abroad he represented the Russian Super League team “Ural” of Yekaterinburg and the Lithuanian club “Pieno Zvaigzdes” of Pasvāle.
In the upcoming season, Ronalds Zaķis, Edvards Mežulis, Renārs Birkāns, Rūdis Donis and Valters Vēveris will continue to play for “Ventspils”.
The announcement also states that Toms Salnājs, Dāvis Ozers, Linards Jaunzems and all foreign basketball players will not play in the Ventspils unit in the new season.
Last season, “Ventspils” did not pass the quarter-finals in the LIBL, but won the bronze medals in the LBL.
