Four people were killed and a number of others were injured in a collision between two helicopters on the beach of the city of Gold Coast in Australia.
“The two helicopters collided and as a result crashed on the beach just outside a nearby hotel,” the Queensland State Police said. The police also added that the rescue forces had difficulty reaching the beach.
A total of 13 people were on the two helicopters, as mentioned, four of them were killed, three were seriously injured and six were slightly injured.

In the pictures from the disaster area, you can see wreckage from the helicopters, while many vehicles of the rescue teams are on the scene. The police said that it is still too early to determine what caused the crash, but according to a preliminary investigation it appears that one helicopter took off and the other was landing during the collision.
Angus Mitchell, the chairman of the Australian Air Safety Agency, announced that an investigation had been opened regarding the collision. He asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the authority. In the coming days, the initial report regarding the incident will be released.
