The package will include missiles for air defense systems, air-to-ground weapons, anti-tank systems, ammunition and a shipment of shoes for Ukrainian soldiers.

The aid was announced after Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marless met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of a NATO summit in Washington.

“Australia was proud to attend this historic NATO summit with our partners to demonstrate unwavering support for the Government of Ukraine,” Marless said. “The supply of high-performance air defense equipment and precision air-to-ground munitions is Australia’s largest single aid shipment to Ukraine and will make a huge contribution to its efforts to end the conflict on its terms.”

In total, the Australian government has provided more than A$1.1 billion (680 million euros) in military aid to Kyiv since the start of the Russian invasion, bringing the total aid to more than $1.3 billion, the country’s Ministry of Defense said.
