Doha (AFP) – Australia qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar (November 21-December 18) in Group D of the French world champions by beating Peru on penalties (0-0, 5 tab to 4) on Monday at Al-Rayyan (west of Doha). Goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne, who entered late in the game for the session, was the hero of the “Socceroos” who join the group of France, Denmark and Tunisia. On Tuesday, Costa Rica and New Zealand face off for the final qualifying ticket in the Group E statement, along with Spain, Germany and Japan.
