U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup

The ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup will begin on January 18, 2025. This tournament of 16 teams will be held in Malaysia. This is the second season of this 41-match competition. The pageant will be screened on February 2. Bangladesh’s youth women’s team will directly participate in the World Cup. The participating teams will play in four groups.
Bangladesh is in Group D. Where Australia, Scotland and a team that emerged from the qualifiers in Asia as opponents. Defending champions India have been drawn in a group with West Indies, Sri Lanka and hosts Malaysia. Group B has England, Pakistan, Ireland and United States respectively. Group C consists of New Zealand, South Africa, Samoa and teams from the African qualifiers.
The group stage matches will be held in four different cities. Group A and the final match will be held at Basusmas Oval in Shilagore. Bangladesh matches will be played at WKM YSD Oval. Bangladesh will enter the field on the first day of the tournament. Opponents are teams from the Asian qualifiers.
Each team will get a chance to play two warm-up matches before taking the field on the main stage. The matches will be held from 13 to 16 January. The competition was to be held jointly in Thailand and Malaysia. But when Thailand refused to host, Malaysia decided to host the tournament alone. The ICC also accepted their claim.
In 2008, Malaysia hosted the boys’ U-19 World Cup. The boys of Bangladesh performed very well in the first round of the competition. Bangladesh defeated Australia, Sri Lanka and USA in three matches of the group stage. Bangladesh lost to South Africa in the first match of the Super Six but defeated the United Arab Emirates in the second match. Despite creating all opportunities to play in the semi-finals, the Junior Tigers did not play in the top four of the service in terms of run rate.
Now to see how far Bangladesh can go in Malaysia. It is good to know that Bangladesh girls won the Women’s Asia Cup for the first time by beating India in this Malaysia. The red-green representatives can only hope for something good in the Paymant field.
