Left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnmann has been included in Australia’s squad against India. Kuhnmann was included in the squad as a replacement when leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson returned home following the birth of his baby. India won the first Test by an innings. After giving up a first innings lead of 223 runs, Australia were bowled out for 91 runs on the third day. R Ashwin’s 5-wicket performance in the second innings broke the Aussie line. Ashwin took three wickets in the first innings and took the first 8 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami took two wickets each and Axar Patel took one wicket. Seven Aussie batsmen were dismissed without finding two figures. Steve Smith was the only one who batted decently in the Aussie line, scoring 25 runs off 51 balls.

India started batting on the third day at 321 for the loss of seven wickets and added 79 runs to the scoreboard. Mohammad Shami and Axar Patel brought the score to 400. With the win, India took a 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series.
