The 2nd Test started yesterday (December 16) in Adelaide as Australia won the first Test of the Ashes series between Australia and England. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first.

Steve Smith is the captain as Australian captain Pat Cummins did not play in the match. Toss won and chose batting.

Batting first, Australian opener Marcus Harris was dismissed for just three runs. David Warner and Lapushen then combined for a superb 172 for the second wicket. Warner, who was close to his best batting century, missed the century by 95 runs.

Lapushen and Smith then drove well together. Lapushene used the 21-run and 95-run two-wicket haul to beat England’s wicketkeeper Jose Butler. Like Warner, Steve Smith, who was close to a special Audi century, was out for 93, and Smith missed the century.

Alexis Carey (51), Mitchell Starc (39) and Michael Nesser (35) all played well, while Travis Head (18) and Cameron Green (2) were all out for a paltry 473 for nine. Declared the first inning. Following this, the England team starts the first innings.
