Injured in the back, the back of the Nets withdrew for the World Cup.
Brooklyn Nets fullback Ben Simmons has withdrawn from the World Cup from August 25 to September 10 to fully recover from a back injury, the Australian Basketball Federation announced on Friday.
“Ben needs time to focus on his recovery and hopes to be part of the team in the future. We wish him the best for his recovery.“Basketball Australia explained on Twitter.
Despite his absence from the list announced in May, coach Brian Goorjan had not completely closed the door to Simmons, 26, selected three times with the All-Stars and “rookie(best rookie) of NBA in 2018.
As a reminder, Australia finished fourth at the 2019 World Cup in China and third at the Tokyo Olympics.
