Brisbane: Australian opening batsman Stephen Nero has set a world record for the most visually impaired ODI cricketers. Stefan holds the record for the highest individual score in blind cricket. His triple century in ODIs is a rare achievement.

Southefan broke the record set by Pakistan’s Masood Jan at the 1998 Cricket World Cup for the Blind. Masood Khan’s highest score was 262 runs. The player’s score will go down in the Guinness Book of World Records along with the cricket record book.

His most memorable batting performance was in the ongoing Cricket Inclusion series against New Zealand. He was unbeaten on 309 off 140 balls. In record batting, he hit 49 fours and a six. After spending three hours at the crease, the team reached 542 for two in 40 overs.

Batting first, the Kiwis were bowled out for 272. Stephen, who is also a wicket-keeper-batsman, was also involved in the run-out of five New Zealanders.

Stefan is in sparkling form in the series. He has scored 113, 101 and 47 in previous games. He has scored a total of 523 runs in the series. Strike rate 224.5.
