Japan’s Naomi Osaka wins first round of Australian Open tennis tournament
The Australian Open, one of the Grand Slam tournaments, kicks off today in Melbourne. In the first round of the women’s division, Naomi Osaka of Japan played against Colombia’s Camila Osoria. Naomi Osaka advanced to the second round, defeating Camila Osoria in a straight set of six three, six three. In another match, Greece’s Maria Zachari defeated Tadjana Maria to advance to the second round.
Novak Djokovic, the world’s number one player previously embroiled in a corona vaccine controversy, has been expelled from Australia after his visa was revoked. This time the Australian Open tennis tournament will be held without Djokovic.
