Melbourne: The first Grand Slam tournament of the year, the Australian Open tennis series is being held in Melbourne. In the second round of men’s singles, Spain’s Rafael Nadal, the first seed, played against the 65th seed Mackenzie Macdonald of the United States. The 36-year-old Nadal suffered from groin pain during the match.
After taking treatment for this, Nadal suffered a shock defeat in straight sets 4-6, 4-6, 5-7. This is the first time in seven years that Rafael Nadal, who has won 22 Grand Slam titles, has made an early exit in a major tournament.
He last made a first-round exit at the 2016 Australian Open.
