Austria: Around 4,000 more refugees per day from Ukraine

by time news

The number of people fleeing the Russian war of aggression from Ukraine remains manageable in Austria for the time being. As the Ministry of the Interior announced on APA request, around 4,000 people from the region arrive in Germany every day. Very few of them want to stay in the country. 80 percent travel on to other countries. The main destinations are those regions in Europe where there are already large Ukrainian communities. These are Spain and Italy, for example.

The first reception centers are in place

Nevertheless, there is already extensive preparatory work in Austria to ensure that refugees from the region are cared for and to organize help on site. The activities are bundled on one of the pages of the Federal Care Agency https://www.bbu.gv.at/.
