A coach with 32 passengers fell over a nine meter high embankment in Austria and rolled over. In the accident on Thursday evening near Bad Mitterndorf (Styria), according to initial findings, four people were seriously injured and 20 others were slightly injured, the police said.
“All those involved in the accident are treated accordingly. Thankfully, most of the people were able to free themselves. Thank God we didn’t have to cut anyone out,” said the fire department. A large-scale operation is underway, and two rescue helicopters have also been requested.
The coach came to a standstill just in front of a pond. Robert Walkner, from the Kainisch fire brigade, told ORF: “The vehicle came to a standstill on its wheels. Like a miracle. Nobody can really explain how this worked. The vehicle did not need to be secured, it was parked there. No operating funds have expired either.”
