It’s all clear for now after a massive storm that hit large parts of Austria on Friday evening. On Sunday, Geosphere Austria issued a heat warning, but no severe weather warning. It affects mainly southern Styria on Sunday, and then all of eastern Austria on Monday.
Austria. Flooding in western Styria, flight cancellations in Schwechat, stranded rail passengers and the call of more than 200 fire brigades in Lower Austria alone were the result of the storms that lashed Austria from Friday to Saturday. There are currently no severe weather warnings for Sunday. This should last until the beginning of the week.
Swimming lakes are mostly above 20 degrees
Sunday will start with mild ten to 20 degrees. Some remaining clouds and morning fog quickly dissipate and then the sun appears. Then some cumulus clouds form, starting from the mountains. Thunderstorms cannot be ruled out in the afternoon. In principle, the weather conditions are more stable than the last few days. The wind is only weak to moderate. Temperatures during the day range from 24 to 32 degrees.
The highest temperatures will be in the east. The highest temperature on Saturday was recorded in Carinthia at 32 degrees (as of 4 pm). Temperatures in Austria’s bathing areas from the Attersee via the Klopiner See or the Ossiacher See ranged between 21 and 26 degrees on Saturday. If you want something more refreshing, go swimming in Lake Hallstatt or Lake Aachen. The water temperature in these two lakes was 18 degrees on Saturday.
Local storms in the west
The new week will start with mostly sunshine. Some cumulus clouds are mixed in, but remain harmless in many places. With the exception of the west, where local warm storms may occur in the afternoon. The wind will be light to moderate. Morning temperatures are 13 to 21 degrees. During Monday it should be 28 to 34 degrees, with the highest values in the east and southeast.
