Austrian Chancellor Nehammer infected with coronavirus

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer tested positive for coronavirus on January 7 and may have been infected by one of his members of his security service, APA reported, citing Nehammer’s office.

The Austrian Chancellor has no symptoms of COVID-19, but has isolated himself and is now working from home. Nehammer received three coronavirus vaccinations. It is not yet known whether the Austrian Chancellor has contracted the omicron strain of the coronavirus. His coronavirus was confirmed by a second PCR test.

On January 4, Nehammer returned from vacation and received a negative PCR test on Wednesday afternoon. He is now in quarantine and will not hold public events for the next few days. Nehammer’s wife and children received negative PCR tests on January 7.

Karl Nehammer is 52 years old. He has been the Chancellor of Austria since December 6 last year. Prior to that, Nehammer was the country’s interior minister since January 7, 2020, and a member of the National Assembly from 2017 to 2020.
