The government crisis that emerged after Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced his resignation is over. This was stated by Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, reports the RND edition.
“This government crisis is over. The work for our country can continue, ”said Van der Bellen.
He also added that on Monday, October 11, he will announce the new Austrian Chancellor and the new Foreign Minister.
Austrian Chancellor resigns amid corruption allegations
Kurz announced his resignation on October 9. He explained his decision with the desire to “avoid chaos and ensure stability.” For the post of acting chancellor, he proposed Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, while Kurz himself will continue to be a member of the Austrian parliament.
