Austrians clean their own four walls for guests

by time news

With the Christmas holidays, there are again more visits to Austria. They are a welcome opportunity to clean your own four walls. Above all, the toilet is cleaned before guests stop by, according to a survey by ImmoScout24 among 500 Austrians. Seven out of ten use the vacuum cleaner, 37 percent wipe the floor with a damp cloth to be on the safe side before they visit.

Basically, according to the survey, there are not a few Austrian households that have a daily routine when it comes to household activities: seven out of ten people put used cups and glasses in the dishwasher, six out of ten make the bed, 55 percent do the dishes and clean the work surface in the kitchen, every second Austrian cleans up laundry lying around and 43 percent clean the hob.

Before visiting relatives, acquaintances or friends, there will be extra cleaning. Three quarters of Austrians state that they then clean the toilet. Only younger hosts between the ages of 18 and 29 are more careless. In this age group, just two thirds clean the quiet place when people outside the household announce themselves.

Around every second respondent ensures that the work surfaces in the kitchen (56 percent) and the hob (49 percent) are clean and free of residues from the last meals. 55 percent clean the wash basin in the bathroom, 42 percent the bathroom mirror and 29 percent clean the shower and / or bathtub to be on the safe side.

Cleaning up is also the order of the day when you visit. 69 percent ensure that there is no laundry lying around, 60 percent remove used glasses or cups. More than half (54 percent) fluff up the cushions on the couch and fold blankets. Almost every second person (48 percent) makes the bed before visitors come, and 14 percent go one step further and make it fresh straight away.
